Read a Review of Rebiya Kadeer's UK trip in October 2007:

Thank you, Rebiya Kadeer!

Thank you for coming to the UK and sharing with us your determination to fight for basic human rights for the Uighur people. Your talks inspired and moved many of us and your meetings with people from many sections in the UK have had useful outcomes for improving Uighur human rights.

Brutal treatment and two years in solitary confinement has not stopped Rebiya Kadeer from continuing to stand up for the human rights of the Uighur people. Now her children back in China have been put in prison. This Ocotober Rebiya came to the UK and gave public talks and met politicians and members of the UK Uighur community. For more details see the panel on the right of this page.

Generous donations have now met the costs of Rebiya Kadeer's trip to the UK. We would like to thank the many people who have donated and in particular express our gratitude to the Islamic Human Rights Commission who donated £500 to the Thousand Mothers Appeal. The costs were less than anticipated partly because Rebiya Kadeer, her husband, Sidike Rouzi, and translator, Maimtimin Aila, charged very little for expenses while here and partly because they were met with a great deal of generosity from people in the UK.
